Football has returned to high school gridirons in Alabama, including a long slate of Black Belt-area games.

Sipsey Valley 69, Greene County 6

Sipsey's Bears score early and often against the Tigers, scoring 20 in the first quarter on the way to a 42-6 halftime lead. Sipsey Valley finally took their foot off the gas in fourth quarter, which was scoreless for both teams.

GCHS quarterback Kelvies Snoddy completed 12 of 26 pass attempts for 192 yard in the loss. Receiver Chance Richardson was responsible for 102 yards. Ronald Wilder Jr. racked up 158 rushing yards on 22 carries, while Snoddy added 61 yards on six carries.

Leroy 52, Thomasville 34

Thomasville fell behind by two touchdowns in the first quarter, 28-14, and wasn't able to catch up, though the team did pull within 28-22in the second quarter.

Leroy added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, one coming after a Thomasville turnover near midfield. Thomasville added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but Leroy also scored another six-pointer to provide the final margin.

Hamilton 42, Hale County 13

Hamilton hammered Hale County early with four first-half touchdowns while holding the Wildcats scoreless and cruised to the home victory.

Kaivien Ryans picked up a four-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to put Hale County on the board. Ryns added a 40-yard ramble to the endzone in the fourth quarter to close out the Wildcat scoring.

Wilcox Academy 21, Southern Academy 6

Wilcox struck first, going up 6-0 early in the first quarter. Southern tied the game in the second quarter with a 43-yard rushing touchdown, but themselves surrendered two long fourth-quarter scores of 82 yards and 62 yards to let Wilcox secure the win.
