It’s travel ball season and the TNA Heat Basketball Club won their first tournament this past weekend in Tuscaloosa.
The organization consists of both girls and boys teams with players from almost every middle school and high school in the Selma Black Belt area.Â
The high school girls group went 3-0, defeating the GTA Stars 27-16 from Columbus, Mississippi, the Tuscaloosa Warriors 27-18 from Tuscaloosa and Future 32-21 from Starkville.Â
Southside’s junior Shamya Allison led the Heat in scoring averaging 8 points a game.Â
The Heat is a local volunteer organization and if anyone would like to make a donation to the team, they can contact the assistant director, Letti Hasberry, at letti4230@yahoo.com or 334-322-5395.
