The eligibility hearing for former Missouri defensive tackle Sterling Webb has been pushed to 9 a.m. Thursday, per Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Webb was slated to have a hearing Wednesday morning regarding him suing the NCAA for an additional year of collegiate eligibility.
Per the first court document regarding Webb’s case, MU has a roster spot ready for the defensive tackle if he’s granted the extra year.
Webb is hoping to capitalize on the NCAA’s new age-based eligibility model that will give college athletes five years to complete five seasons. His hearing for a temporary restraining order was supposed to take place at a St. Louis County circuit court.
The judge in his case, per Hoff, has also changed. Webb’s case will now be in front of Ellen Ribaudo.
The St. Louis product played two years at Mizzou before setting his sights on the NFL. Webb logged 38 total tackles and two sacks in 23 appearances for the Tigers. He started his career at New Mexico State and played there for two seasons before making the move to MU.
During his senior season, Webb emerged as a key member of Missouri’s defensive tackle room. He was the second or third player on the depth chart behind Chris McClellan and alongside Marquis Gracial.
His return would add more depth to a room that now lacks some experience, production and leadership.
