Mizzou football racked up its seventh commitment in the Class of 2027 on Saturday with Republic High School safety Keiran Govan. He joins tight end Jack Brown, offensive tackle Lual Aleu, wide receiver Chris Harris Jr., quarterback Braylen Warren, safety Jabarri Lofton and punter Dane Olmstead.
Govan is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 8 recruit in the state and the No. 38 safety in the nation in his class.
Govan received several offers, eventually narrowing the field to five programs: Missouri, Tennessee, Iowa State, Louisville and Kansas State. He visited Mizzou back in May.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety experienced a breakout year as a sophomore for Republic in 2024, notching 54 tackles and two forced fumbles.
As a junior, he recorded 57 tackles with three for loss. Govan snagged four interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns. Additionally, he forced one fumble and blocked a punt. He even appeared on the offensive side of the ball, catching 10 passes for 220 yards and four touchdowns.
Last season, Govan led Republic to a 9-3 record.
Govan is a three-sport athlete, playing basketball in the winter and competing in track and field in the spring. He qualified for the MSHSAA Class 5 Championships in the high jump and triple jump as a sophomore.
This marks the second defensive commitment in the Class of 2027 as Coach Eli Drinkwitz continues to shore up both sides of the ball.
