Burton junior quarterback Kayden Patterson is one of 15 finalists for this year’s Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 2A Quarterback of the Year award.

The 15 finalists in each class are the publication’s 11 quarterbacks of the week followed by four editor’s choices.

Patterson was the Class 2A quarterback of the week in Week 3 following his seven-touchdown performance against Schulenburg. He totaled 364 yards in a dual-threat performance. He threw for 180 yards on a 12-of-19 completion rate and ran for 184 yards on 24 carries.

The junior earned the District 13-2A-II offensive MVP award with 1,163 total yards and 22 touchdowns in district play. Most of his production came on the ground with 610 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 83 carries.

Patterson also shined in the playoffs despite Burton’s 54-35 bi-district loss to Brackett. He tallied 297 total yards and four touchdowns with three scores and 165 yards coming on the ground.

The DCTF Quarterback of the Year is a fan-voted award. Fans can log on to www.texasfootball.com/quarterback-of-the-week/form to cast their vote. Voting is unlimited.
