The No. 7 ranked Southside High School Panthers hosted the No. 10 ranked Wilcox Central High School Jaguars on Tuesday night in Selma.Â

The varsity girls' match ended in favor of the Lady Jaguars, with a 50-17 victory over the Lady Panthers. The Lady Jaguars got off to a quick start with a 17-0 run against the Lady Panthers in the first quarter and they never looked back. A. Bennett led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 8 points. T. McMillian led the Lady Jaguars in scoring with 22 points.Â

The must anticipated varsity boys' match gave the crowd the intensity they were waiting for. Both teams got off to a great start, as they battled back and forth for most of the first half. The Jaguars came out from halftime to give the Panthers a run with attempt to close the gap and take the lead. The Panthers managed to not only maintain their lead, but to eventually pull away from the Jaguars to capture a 74-59 area win. A. Towns led the Panthers in scoring with 23 points. D. Surles finished with 16 points and D. Smith added 13 points. K. Williams and T. Bowers both led the Jaguars in scoring with 14 points apiece.

The Panthers will play again on Thursday at home against the Dallas County Hornets.Â
