Angie’s Auctions part of largest garage sale

It wasn’t your average garage sale. 

This garage sale went from Texas to Virginia and included many cities along the way, including Selma. And Angie’s Auctions was part of the action. 

“We’re just part of this gigantic garage sale along Highway 80,” Bill Morgan with Angie’s Auctions said. “A lady started this garage sale in Texas 40 years ago, and now it goes across the country. Proud to be part of it.”

The Historic U.S. Highway 80 Garage Sale, which calls itself the world’s largest, was April 19 and 20. 

Angie’s Auctions has been around for 20 years. Morgan and his wife started it when someone pointed out that she sounded like an auctioneer.

“There aren’t many women auctioneers around, so my wife loves her part in this business,” Morgan said. “We specialize in primitive jewelry, coins and all kinds of treasures. People come to our auctions every three weeks from 200 mile radius.”

Morgan has come across amazing finds in his years of hunting for treasures. 

“I have come across old tools from the early 1800s,” he said. “One time I found some coins worth $2,000.”

Morgan said, “It’s like a treasure hunt; you never know what you will find.”
