Peerless Pump

Peerless Pump's CEO said "securing skilled talent and meeting customer expectations have been particularly challenging in our Selma facility."

Peerless Pump will close its Selma facility by July, according to a statement from the company.

The plant’s production will be moved to its manufacturing facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, the statement said.

“We truly appreciate the relentless work by the team in Peerless but have also come to realize that externally driven factors have made it impossible to successfully strengthen and stabilize the business under the current set up in Selma,” Arron Phillips, head of the Selma Business Unit, said in the company statement. “Unfortunately, good and loyal colleagues will be losing their jobs in this painful, but necessary change.”

Peerless President and General Manager Tommy Due Hoy said a transition plan will be implemented between now and July 2024.

“Unfortunately, the decision will affect a number of Selma-based employees,” Hoy said. “Many of the Selma associates have been offered an opportunity to transfer to our Indianapolis facility effective July 1, 2024. However, there will also be redundancies. The Company will provide separation assistance and career transition services for all redundant employees.”

“The Peerless Senior Management Team recognizes the valuable contribution from the colleagues in Selma over the last many years,” Hoy said. “However, a number of the difficult market conditions securing skilled talent and meeting customer expectations have been particularly challenging in our Selma facility.

The Peerless facility on Ravenwood Drive manufactures LaBour, Taber and 8196 ANSI pumps.
