The Coffee Shoppe on Broad Street in downtown Selma won Alabama Retailer of the Year in their category at a ceremony for Alabama Retail Day in Birmingham Tuesday.
The Alabama Retail Association named the Coffee Shoppe winner in the gold category for businesses with annual sales of less than $1 million.
Jacqueline T. Smith, owner and operator of The Coffee Shoppe in Selma, accepted the award at the Retail Day festivities in Birmingham. The Coffee Shoppe was named a winner from a group of 14 Alabama Retailer of the Year finalists.
Sheryl Smedley, executive director of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce, said it is the first gold category winner for the chamber.
The honorees were selected by an independent judging panel, consisting of representatives from chambers of commerce, media, retail developers, academia and past winners.
