E3 Solutions in Selma is part of a $1.5 million grant from the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to fund an environmentalist project to promote "healthy homes".
“No President has invested more in environmental justice than President Biden, and under his leadership we’re removing longstanding barriers and meaningfully collaborating with communities to build a healthier future for all,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan.
“Together, these community-driven projects will improve the health, equity, and resilience of communities while setting a blueprint for local solutions that can be applied across the nation.”
According to an announcement from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the funding comes from the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act. E3 Solutions and the Mobile County Board of Health were selected by the EPA for funding.
E3 Solutions was awarded $500,000 for the training initiative in Selma and the surrounding Black Belt counties to promote public health. This would be done by "engaging the community, government partners, and local businesses to develop plans and make progress toward creating healthy homes," says the EPA.
The Mobile County Board of Health was given $1 million to address lead poisoning and reduce the amount of exposure to children.
“For too long, minority and underserved communities in Alabama have been the victims of environmental injustice,” said Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07). “Our children, families, friends, and neighbors deserve to have access to clean water, clean air, and a healthy environment where our communities can thrive."
