Dallas-Wilcox Bama Club awards scholarships to area seniors

The Dallas Wilcox Bama Club handed out $45,000 in scholarships to high school seniors from Dallas and Wilcox counties who are going to The University of Alabama in the fall during a special ceremony on May 9 at Cornerstone Presbyterian.

Winners are Anna Brech, Milton Hand, Claire Cooper Johnson, Margaret Elizabeth Minter, Anne Francis Pearce and Anne Hayes Utsey from Morgan Academy. 

Chryshaun Theodoric Hatcher from Keith High School.Camaya Moore, Kadasia Monae Hall and Demetria R. Tabb from Dallas County High School. Alexis Rena Perry and Frank Antwan Yorkfrom Selma High School.Mariah Taria Flennory and Shamia Emily Foster from Southside High School. Amira De’Jornae McCants from Wilcox Central High School. 

Several Alabama National Alumni Association members attended the ceremony, including Executive Director of the National Alumni Association Jimmy Warren and his wife Emily, National Alumni Association President Nancy Siniard and Director of Alumni Affairs Kayla White. 

The special guest speaker was Chris Stewart, the voice of Alabama football and basketball.  Bama Club President Ronnie Leet said Stewart spoke about his experiences interviewing former Alabama Head Football Coach Nick Saban. He also spoke about how well adjusted the new coach, Kalen Deboer, is and how well he fits in. Stewart spoke on Alabama basketball too.
