Hannah Harper is not slowing down after winning Season 24 of American Idol. After recently announcing her String Cheese tour, which will last until mid-November, Harper shared more major career news on May 26, and it will garner her even more exposure.
This October, Harper will be the opening act on several dates of Lauren Alaina‘s Stages tour. Alaina was the runner-up in Season 10 of American Idol in 2011, so this is a full circle moment.
The women will be sharing the stage in Springfield, Missouri, Little Rock, Arkansas, Columbia, Missouri, Lexington, Kentucky, and Cleveland, Ohio.
When Alaina announced the tour, she gave a shout-out to Harper and the other opening acts, writing, “I get to share the stage with some incredible artists and friends who are in such exciting stages of their own careers. See y’all out there.”
Harper took a few weeks to unwind at home with her family after American Idol ended on May 11. She’ll pick things back up with her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 2, followed by a performance with other Idol alumni in Nashville to kick off CMA Fest weekend on June 3. Her tour begins with a festival show on June 5.
While on the road, Harper will be joined by husband Devon Mendenhall and their three sons, which will obviously be a major adjustment. “We’re going to figure it out!” she recently told TV Insider.
Harper went viral during her American Idol audition, during which she sang an original song called “String Cheese,” which was written while she was struggling with postpartum depression. While the special moment ended up being the catalyst for the rest of Harper’s journey on the show, she admitted that she almost didn’t audition with that song at all.
“They told me to prepare backup because the judges don’t love to hear originals,” Harper dished. “They want to hear something that they’re familiar with, that they’ve heard before. So I had a backup planned and never had to use it. I was really thankful.”
