Jimmy Kimmel roasted Donald Trump on Tuesday night (May 26) after the president decided to skip his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding.
“DJTJ and his new bride, Bettina, were married on Saturday on a private island in the Bahamas. It was a small ceremony with about 40 guests, none of whom were his father,” the late-night host quipped on Tuesday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
As Kimmel pointed out, Trump sent his RSVP via Truth Social, writing, “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.”
Trump continued, “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!”
“See, he can be warm when he wants to. He loves Don Jr. He just loves the United States more,” Kimmel said after reading Trump’s post. “He had circumstances pertaining to the government to get to, and also, flying to a private island makes him miss his friend Jeffrey [Epstein] who he lost.”
Kimmel didn’t buy Trump’s excuses, saying, “This is a guy who golfs two, three times a week. He’s going to UFC fights with Vanilla Ice. He was too busy for his son’s wedding.”
“But he did say Don and Bettina are gonna have a great marriage, and this is a man who knows a great marriage. He’s had three of them himself,” the comedian joked.
Trump married Ivana Zelníčková in 1977, and they had three children together: Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. They divorced in 1990 following Trump’s affair with model and actress Marla Maples. He and Marples married in 1993 and had a daughter, Tiffany, before divorcing in 1999. Trump married Melania in 2005, and the couple welcomed a son, Barron, in 2006.

Kimmel expressed his sympathy for “Poor Don Jr.,” saying, “Without his father, they had to scramble to find somebody else to make a 90-minute toast about windmills and transgender weightlifters.”
“It’s sad, but the truth is, Donald Trump just isn’t a guy that likes to go to wed…,” Kimmel said before stopping himself as various headlines about Trump crashing weddings at Mar-a-lago popped on screen. “Oh, never mind.”
Kimmel noted how Don Jr. and Bettina are still planning to celebrate their marriage at the White House and that the President and First Lady are “expected” to attend.
“You’d hope so. They live there,” he quipped. “Can you imagine if they didn’t show up to that one, too? ‘We wanted to make it but we were unable to go downstairs.'”
