Robert Pattinson is making a pivot to television … well, sort of. The actor stars in the new A24 drama Primetime, which dramatizes the story of Chris Hansen and his hit docuseries To Catch a Predator.
The studio has released the first trailer for the Lance Oppenheim film, and it features an eerie look at the man who helped expose hundreds of child predators across the country, all for primetime.
Here’s a look at everything else we know about Primetime so far.
When does Primetime premiere?
The movie is expected to hit theaters in September of this year. It is unknown when or where it will eventually be available to stream at home.
Who stars in Primetime?
Robert Pattinson leads the cast as Chris Hansen, the real-life Dateline NBC journalist who confronted adult men who were arriving to his trap house to meet (and, presumably, sexually assault) young children they’d met on the internet, but who were really part of Hansen’s team.
Starring alongside Pattinson in the film are Skyler Gisondo, Merritt Wever, Phoebe Bridgers, Matthew Maher, Anna Faris, and Sean Bridgers.
What is Primetime about?
The film tells the true story of Chris Hansen’s rise to being one of TV’s most influential faces with the 2006 debut of To Catch a Predator. The logline for the film reads, “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.”
Who are the creatives behind Primetime?
Lance Oppenheim makes his narrative feature film debut with Primetime, based on a script from Ajon Singh. The film is based on the history of TV’s To Catch a Predator. Cinematography was done by David Bolen, and the film is produced by Pattinson, Lars Knudsen, Brighton McCloskey, Tyler Campellone, Fred Berger, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.
