The Selma Art Guild enjoyed a well-attended Summer Show reception with presentation of awards and the display of art judged by award winning photographer and author Warren Simons at the SAG Gallery on Sunday, June 7.
Selma Art Guild President Cam Walker Guarino said, “I was so pleased to see the large turnout for the recognition of the artists and their work.” And, she said, “I was pleased with the quality of the work and that we had new participants along with established Central Alabama artists.”
The show features 13 artists from Montgomery, Prattville, Wetumpka, Gastonburg, Selma and Tyler and more than 30 works of art.
Best of Show artist Donna Richardson of Prattville, who won for her acrylic work “I See You,” said she began painting professionally in 2022 and that her medium is mostly acrylic but that she also paints in oil.
On winning Best of Show, Richardson said, “I’m totally excited. My husband and I were both pleased. This is my first major award.” She said she had won third place before in a couple of events but, “This was really nice. I ‘m excited and surprised.”
Other winners were:
