Seven businesses in Montgomery benefitted from grants to improve their storefronts.

The money was awarded through the City of Montgomery's Storefront Improvement Grant Program and Administered by the Department of Community & Economic Development (ADECA) through its ACCESS Montgomery initiative.

Up to $15,000 in 50-percent matching grants are provided to help upgrade buildings with fresh paint, new signage, HVAC systems and energy-efficient windows.

“These grants not only beautify our city center, they strengthen the backbone of Montgomery’s small-business community,” said Frank Robinson, Director of Economic Development. “Our intent is to partner with entrepreneurs who have demonstrated commitment to the city, and to make sure every public dollar spent helps attract more foot traffic, more jobs, and more momentum downtown.”

The following were awarded funds:

23 Court Cigar Bar & Bistro

Eugene’s Hot Chicken

Dreamland BBQ

Jesus City Church

Paradigm Lounge

Capitol City Bicycle Repair & Service

Rick E’s

“This support gives us the chance to finally make improvements that have been on our wish list for years,” said Jeff Feet, owner of Capitol City Bicycle Repair & Service. “From upgrading the HVAC system to revitalizing our storefront, this investment helps us better serve customers and add to the energy that’s building in downtown Montgomery.”
