In a couple of months, the next Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee will take place from Feb. 28 to March 1 in downtown Selma.
The event commemorates the incident that became known as “Bloody Sunday” at Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1965. Marchers during the Civil Rights Movement were attacked by state troopers in a violent confrontation that resulted in many injuries.
The Jubilee will feature a number of activities, including speakers, panels, and music. It has been attended by famous actors, musicians, and politicians. Former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton are among those who have attended.
See the schedule online for a list of events to take place at the Jubilee.
