An attempted traffic stop by an officer of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) resulted in a traffic chase through Montgomery on Tuesday afternoon.

According to an announcement a trooper of ALEA's Protective Services Division tried to stop a 2005 Cadillac SRX for a traffic violation on East Patton Avenue at around 5:39 p.m.

The car fled, prompting a chase in which ALEA’s Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit (MACS) and ALEA Aviation became involved.

MACS officers eventually managed to stop the car at East South Boulevard. The driver was identified as Pierre Ronshay Bennett, 46, of Montgomery.

Bennett was evaluated at a hospital before being arrested and charged with attempting to elude, first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and attempting to distribute.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. No officers were injured during the incident, said the announcement.
