Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced Friday that his office is investigating accusations of voter fraud in Clarke County.
In a short statement released Friday, Marshall said voter fraud and ballot harvesting are illegal in Alabama and "violations will not be tolerated."
Secretary of State Wes Allen said in a statement Monday that Clarke County woman Staciann Pollion Davis, 42, was arrested and given a federal charge of voting as an alien in the November 2024 General Election in Clarke County.
It is unclear if the two cases are related.
Marshall said he is getting help from the Clarke County Circuit Clerk, Probate Judge and Clarke County Sheriff in the investigation. No other details were given in his statement as the investigation is ongoing.
"Election integrity depends on people who will speak up, and my office is giving these complaints the thorough investigation they deserve," Marshall said in a statement.
Secretary Allen said he received assistance from the U.S. Attorney’s Offices for the Northern and Southern Districts of Alabama, federal law enforcement and his team at the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office.
Allen also reported the arrest of two others for voter fraud. Silvia Delgado Phelps, 78, was also arrested on federal charges of voting as an alien in multiple elections in Baldwin County. In North Alabama, a North Carolina man, Forrest Scott Woody, was indicted for illegally voting more than once following allegations that he voted twice in the 2024 General Election – once in Calhoun County and once in Henderson County, North Carolina.
“Alabamians deserve fair, secure, and transparent elections. My Office takes election integrity very seriously, and I am proud of the steps we have taken to identify potential instances of voter fraud in our State,” Allen said. “Illegal voting, whether by a noncitizen or through double voting, undermines election integrity and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”
