A heat advisory is in effect for Central Alabama until 7 p.m. today, with temperatures to stay high for the rest of the week.Â
According to AlabamaWx Weather Blog, heat advisories will likely be issued for the rest of the week as the heat index values will reach more than 100 degrees for many places and as high as 105 degrees for other areas.Â
The heat and humidity may cause storms sometime during the week. The weather blog predicts that storms may occur on Wednesday and Thursday.Â
The Dallas County Emergency Management advises the public to stay inside of air conditioned buildings and drink fluids. Anyone who works outside should take precautions.Â
See this graphic on the National Weather Service Birmingham's Facebook page for information on heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Â
