The City of Marion has introduced a mass notification system by CivicReady to send emergency alerts to citizens via text messages, email, pager, or voice mail.Â
"It is important that we collect contact information to alerts the community and its affiliates regarding emergency as well as non-emergency incidents that may have a significant impact to residents," said a post on the city's social media.Â
Residents can be notified of emergencies concerning evacuation, shelter in place, boil water orders, active shooters and others. Non-emergency notifications include garbage pickup delays, community events, public meetings, traffic issues and others.Â
