City of Montgomery announces final steps in paving of Federal Drive

A "significant milestone" has been reached in the paving of Federal Drive, a key thoroughfare in Montgomery, said an announcement from the city on Wednesday. 

“We appreciate the public’s patience throughout this process,” said Patrick Dunson, Director of Public Works for the City of Montgomery.

With weather permitting crews will add the final layer of asphalt next week. 

Despite this there will still need to be signal installation, curb and gutter construction, permanent pavement markings, and adjustments to manholes and utility covers. There will also be final cleanup, restoration, and project inspections to be completed in the coming weeks.

During this time, drivers are expected to encounter temporary lane closures, minor delays, and active construction equipment in the area, said the announcement. 

“This project represents a major investment in our infrastructure,” said Dunson. “We’re excited to deliver these improvements that will benefit drivers, pedestrians, and surrounding neighborhoods for years to come.”
