The City of Selma has authorized a sales tax exemption for items related to severe weather preparedness for Feb. 21 to Feb. 23.

The Code of Alabama 1975 allows for the exemption of municipal sales and use taxes for supplies such as batteries, weather radios and other items.

The exemption begins at 12:01 a.m. on Feb. 21 and will end at midnight on Feb. 23.

“It is my hope that the citizens of Selma take advantage of this tax break to become Selma Prepared," said Mayor James Perkins. "We not only want every resident to be prepared for severe weather but to shop Selma first.”
