Selma City Councilman Troy Harvill has a message to the citizens of Selma: Get the COVID vaccine.
Harvill revealed during the council’s work session Thursday that he is recovering from COVID. He said he had to leave Thursday’s work session early to attend a memorial for a friend who died of COVID.
Harvill said he knows three people who have recently died of COVID; two of them were 53 years old and one was 31. None were vaccinated.
“Physicians are insisting it’s imperative to get vaccinated and get antibodies,” Harvill said.
City Council President Warren “Billy” Young joked that the council was “glad to see you back, right in time for the budget.” Harvill is chairman of the budget committee, and the council is working to get the budget finalized before the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
Young offered the council’s prayers for the families affected by COVID.
