Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is hosting a gun buyback event in Montgomery on Saturday, Aug. 19. 

Anyone interested in turning in firearms may do so anonymously. They must be turned in unloaded with ammunition being separate. Bb guns, air rifles, non-functioning firearms and knives are accepted but no compensation will be given for these. 

Crimestoppers is offering $50 for a rifle or shotgun, $100 for a functioning handgun, and $200 for assault styled and semi-automatic rifles. 

There will also be a Community Resource Fair for attendees and Montgomery area residents. 

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Bryant Missionary Baptist Church at 3645 Norman Bridge Road across the street from Normandale Shopping Center.
