More than 50 criminal justice officials met in Montgomery for the CSG Justice Center's annual Advisory Board Meeting to address improving criminal justice and public safety.

The board is chaired by Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles Director Cam Ward.

"We enjoyed the chance to host over 50 officials from the public and private sectors from all over the United States at Montgomery's Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center," he said.

"Those representatives included legislators, judges, executive branch officials, law enforcement leaders and defense attorneys who are committed to ensuring safer, stronger communities across our nation. I am honored to serve as the group's chairman for the next two years as we promote positive, data-driven criminal justice policies."

Topics at the meeting included the national Reentry 2030 initiative to help people leaving prison to reenter society, which Alabama signed on for in 2023 and includes Missouri, North Carolina, New York, Washington and Nebraska.

Officials also visited the Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice during their visit.
