CURRY COUPLE lost house in tornado

Tom and Ann Curry of Selma lost their house of 50 years in Selma's January 2023 tornado.

The Curry family from Selma is hosting a viewing of a documentary film about their surviving the 2023 tornado at Walton Theater on the second anniversary of the tornado, Jan. 12.

The film “Roofless: After The Disaster” documents the struggle of Tom and Ann Curry, who are in their 90s and lost their home of 50 years in the EF-2 tornado that hit Selma on Jan. 12, 2023. It will be shown at 3 p.m. at the Walton Theater on Selma Avenue.

The film also follows the couple as they were invited later that month to join Rep. Terri Sewell at the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C.

The Black Belt News Network met the Curry family for a story about their loss and rebuilding efforts one year after the storm. Read that story here.

Watch a trailer for the film here. Tickets will be $10. The film will also be shown during the 60th commemoration of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee in March.

The documentary was produced by the Curry’s son, Alfonso, through his firm Southtown Media Productions in Atlanta.
