The Curry family from Selma is hosting four more screenings of a documentary film about their surviving the 2023 tornado during the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee events.
The film “Roofless: After the Disaster” documents the struggle of Tom and Ann Curry, who are in their 90s and lost their home of 50 years in the EF-2 tornado that hit Selma on Jan. 12, 2023. It will be shown on March 7 at noon and 2 p.m. and March 8 at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Walton Theater on Selma Avenue.
The first showing was held on the second anniversary of the storm on Jan. 12 at the Walton Theater.
The film also follows the couple as they were invited later that month to join Rep. Terri Sewell at the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C.
The Black Belt News Network met the Curry family for a story about their loss and rebuilding efforts one year after the storm. Tickets will be $10.
The documentary was produced by the Curry’s son, Alfonso, through his firm Southtown Media Productions in Atlanta.
