A study that lists the most generous counties in Alabama shows that Dallas County was 22nd out of 67 other counties when it came to giving and donating to charitable causes.
The study by smartasset.com used data from the IRS that measured the amount of money that residents donated as a percentage of their net income, as well as the amount of people in a county that made donations.Â
The study says Dallas County residents contributed 1.5% of their income to charity. The percentage of returns itemizing charitable contributions was 5.54%.Â
Shelby County ranks as the most generous in the state, followed by Jefferson County in second and Walker County in third.Â
