Mike Granthum

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Granthum is recovering at an undisclosed hospital after suffering a “medical emergency” on Monday.

While he recovers, Chief Deputy John Hatfield is in charge, the department said on Tuesday.

Hatfield said Granthum was taken to the hospital on Monday and on Tuesday said he “is doing well.”

“The situation was taken care of yesterday (Oct 6),” Hatfield reported. “He is healing.” 

Hatfield added that a more detailed public statement will be released in the next week.
