The Demopolis High School Tigers offered little mercy to the visiting Selma High School Saints Friday night, defeating them by a score of 47-8.

The Tigers got on the scoreboard early in the first quarter but missed the PAT. Selma came back and scored a touchdown and ran the ball in for a two-point conversion, going ahead 8-6 and creating the impression that the Saints were marching in.

But that first quarter score was it for the overmatched Saints, now 1-4 for the season. The scoreboard read 26-8 at the half, and the Tigers added another 21 points in the second half to end the game at 47.

The Tigers even started making their PATs, which has been an issue in earlier games and early in the Selma game.

JW McAlpine was quarterback for most of the game. Jake Powell was behind center for several plays and caught some passes as well. Jamarcus Davis had another good game.

Demopolis, now 2-2 for the season, hosts Aliceville High School Sept. 26 for homecoming. Selma plays Fairfield on the road.
