The Meadowview Christian Academy Trojans fell to Southern Prep Academy 84-44 at home in a regional game on Friday, Sept. 22. But with 44 points on the board by his team, Trojans Head Football Coach John Treherne saw so much improvement he called it a “great game.”
“Even though we lost, there were so many victories made in this game. We improved on our blocking on offense and also our ability to pressure their offense,” said Treherne.
He said, “My guys played a very good game, though we still have some work to do, as with any team. And he said, the Trojans will get back to work “to be better prepared” for their coming game.
For Meadowview Christian Academy, there were touchdowns by Alex Johnson, Trent Ballard, Hayden Mott and Sean Pope. They were also part of the extra points after touchdowns.
Treherne said, “Southern Prep has a very good program and played with good sportsmanship.”
The Trojans will travel to North River Christian on Sept. 29 for another regional contest. They are currently 0-5 overall and 0-3 in region play in 2023. While Treherne is building a team with lots of youth getting valuable experience, the team’s losing streak going back to 2017 now stands at 57 according to Alabama High School Historical Society (AHSHS).
Also, according to the AHSHS, the Trojans are an 8-Man AISA football team. They fielded their first team in 1970 and held a 28 straight winning streak in 1985 and had a 13-game winning season in 1986.
