Morgan Academy hires new head football coach, athletic director

Morgan Academy has a new head football coach and athletic director.

Jacob Webb has been hired to coach varsity and junior varsity football and serve as athletic director for the school, headmaster Dr. Bryan Oliver announced on Friday.

Oliver said Webb is familiar with the AISA having coached at Jackson Academy for seven years. He made multiple playoff appearances with his teams, including two state championship games. Webb has recently been coaching at 6A Pearl River Central High School in Mississippi. 

“It was evident from the interview process that Coach Webb shared a vision for the program that was consistent with our mission statement at Morgan,” Oliver said. 

He said Webb has a clear plan to develop Morgan Academy players and move the program to new heights.

Webb will be on campus Monday, May 13 at noon for a player-only meeting, and all sixth through 11^th grade boys are invited to attend the meeting after exams finish. Webb will discuss summer workouts and his expectations for his players.

“I encourage each one of you to ask your children to attend,” he said in a statement to parents and staff, adding they will hold a parent meeting at a separate time in the near future.

“I am excited about the leadership that Coach Webb will bring to Morgan Academy. He is a man of strong character that will teach our boys more than just football,” Oliver said. 

Coach Webb brings with him his wife Amber and their three children (Jake-3rd, Lizzy-2nd and Avery-K) to Morgan.
