The Selma High Lady Saints flag football team took their first loss of the year Thursday night, falling 28-6 at home to Brewbaker Tech.

The Patriots opened the scoring with a touchdown in the first quarter, but Selma answered right back with a rushing score of their own. That made it 7-6 early, but the Saints couldn’t keep the momentum. Brewbaker Tech added another before halftime, then pulled away with two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The setback moves Selma to 5–1 on the season. Even with the loss, the Lady Saints remain among the top teams in the area and are eyeing a postseason push.

The game also came during a big moment for the sport itself — flag football was recently approved for the 2028 Olympics, giving players like the Saints fresh inspiration for the future.

Selma will try to rebound at home on October 7, when they face Montgomery Catholic at 5:30 p.m.
