The Wallace Community College Lady Patriots volleyball team came together for their sophomore night to host a drive to collect canned goods, non perishable and personal hygiene items to give back to the Selma community.
Departing sophomores, Addison Vining and Amber Cockrell, requested that the supporting fans bring donated items to the home volleyball game on Oct. 16 that highlighted the sophomores, as an act to end their season on a positive note. Fans donated over 500 items which were donated to the Winston Williams Homeless Shelter and to WCCS food pantry.
The Lady Patriots team captain Addison Vining stated, “Giving back is important to me because I know what it is like to not always have those things, and the idea that maybe this could make a difference is why I felt that it was important to do a drive. It’s important to me because it creates positive change and can bring people together.”
