A 230 acre development site in Montgomery was awarded a Gold Level by CSX Transportation, said an announcement by the city on Facebook.Â
According to the announcement this is the only site in the nation to be given the level. It was given by the CSX Select Site program, described as a "rigorous" site certification program.Â
"With support from its partner GLS, a prestigious site location firm headquartered in South Carolina, the sites were recognized as being ready to compete for the top domestic and international industrial projects," said the announcement.Â
The City of Montgomery boasted that this is the latest in a series of successful economic development and job creation efforts. They named the presence of different companies in the city, such as Amazon, Manna Beverages and Ventures, C Spire, Fed Ex, Premier Tech and others.
"Today's announcement by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, CSX and local leaders comes after a recent award from the state officials for leading Alabama in job creation and economic development," said the announcement.
"2022 was the best year on record for economic development in Montgomery. Under the leadership of Mayor Reed, Montgomery saw more than $1.7 billion in new private sector investment and the creation of 2,000 new jobs."
