An inmate of Staton Correctional Facility who is serving a life sentence for a murder in Montgomery County has been recaptured after escaping on Aug. 7. 

According to a press release from the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) the inmate was identified as Jordan Andrew Thomas, 30. 

On Monday morning Thomas was taken into custody by ADOC Law Enforcement Services Division, U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and the Montgomery Police Department at the 7200 block of Troy Highway in Montgomery.

Thomas has been charged with escape in the first degree out of Elmore County and was transported to Kilby Correctional Facility for processing.
