Winners of the Dallas County Farm City Poster Contest supported by the Dallas County Farmers Federation and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System Dallas County Office were recognized on Monday, Feb. 14 by the Dallas County Commission at its meeting.
K-3 Division Winners included: First, kindergartener Haden Glover of Southside Primary with teacher Christina Deal; Second, second grader Malley Paulk of Morgan Academy; and Third, second grader Coleman Rives of Morgan Academy, both with Morgan Academy Art Teacher Cam Guarino.
4-6 Division Winners included First sixth grader Miles Avery Bond of Morgan Academy with Morgan Academy Art Teacher Cam Guarino; Second, sixth grader Jada Brown of J.E. Terry Elementary with teacher Rhonda Barnes; and third, fifth grader Evelyn Peak of Morgan Academy with Morgan Academy Art Teacher Cam Guarino.
David Daniel Jr., Dallas County Extension Coordinator for the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and Auburn University said, “This contest provides an opportunity for instructors to teach youth the importance of local agriculture while also fostering their individual creativity and constructive expression.”
He said contest is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation with each counties’ first place winners from the respective age divisions competing for statewide recognition.
