The Alabama Department of Transportation's (ALDOT) contractor, D.R.C. Emergency Service, will make a final pass for tornado debris pickup on state routes in Dallas County on March 31.Â
Residents are advised to place debris on the public right-of-way by this date or it may not be picked up. They are also advised to separate debris in the following:Â
Vegetative - Anything from trees such as stumps, branches and others.Â
Construction and demolition: Damaged parts of buildings and structures.Â
Household hazardous waste: Paints, cleaners, pesticides and other materials that are corrosive, toxic, ignitable or reactive.Â
Large goods: Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps, ovens, ranging, washing machines, clothes dryers and water heaters.Â
"Do not place debris near a water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility," said a statement from ALDOT. "Only debris placed on the public right-of-way will be eligible for collection. Debris should not be placed in the roadway shoulders."
