Fox News contributor and veteran Johnny "Joey" Jones will deliver a Hellen Keller lecture at Troy University on April 29 at 11 a.m.

The lecture is part of a series established in 1995 in honor of Hellen Keller and involves talks about sensory disabilities and other physical limitations.

Jones is a combat veteran who was severely injured during a deployment in Afghanistan while serving as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. An explosion from an IED resulted in the loss of both of his legs.

As he was recovering he lost a fellow veteran friend who was affected by PTSD to suicide. He has devoted much of his time in addressing issues related to wounded veterans.

“Joey Jones’ inspiring journey from a wounded warrior to a tireless advocate for veterans highlights the core values of resilience, perseverance, and dedication,” said Dr. Fred Figliano, Dean of the College of Education. “His experiences not only bring attention to the challenges faced by those with physical limitations but also celebrate the transformative power of education, service, and community."

"The Helen Keller Lecture Series continues to provide a powerful platform to honor individuals like Joey, who embody the spirit of overcoming adversity and making a lasting impact on society.”

The lecture is free to the public.
