A girl has died after a shooting took place in Montgomery on Monday morning, prompting an investigation by police.Â
The shooting occurred at approximately 2:20 A.M. in the 400 Block of Mulligan Drive. The young female victim was found with a gunshot wound.Â
The girl was transported to a hospital but later pronounced dead.Â
The victim has been identified, Caylee Taylor, 6, of Montgomery, according to Montgomery Police Department (MPD) Chief James Graboys.Â
"We will not cease until we identify and hold those responsible," he remarked at a press conference. "We will identify them. We will charge them. They will face justice."Â
This is the 27th homicide in Montgomery. A number of "promising" leads have been developed and the case is "moving very quickly," he said, adding that the MPD is working with state and local authorities.Â
