Santa at Selma Christmas parade

The grand marshals for the upcoming Selma Christmas Parade have been announced by city officials. 

Selma High School basketball coach Willie Edward Maxey was announced as one of the marshals. 

"Honoring a living legend whose leadership, mentorship, and commitment have shaped generations," said the City of Selma on social media. 

The Southside High School football team was announced as the second. 

"Congrats on a truly legendary season thank you for inspiring our community and being examples of dedication, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence," added the announcement. 

The parade is set to take place on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. on Broad Street in downtown Selma.
