A Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $260,000 has been awarded to expand the Connector Manufacturing Co. location in Greenville and make improvements to an industrial road.
Connector Manufacturing Inc. is a subsidiary of Hubbell Industries and produces electrical connectors along with related components.
The project will involve a 2.1 mile road with grading, resurfacing and drainage improvements.
An announcement from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), which made the grant, the road sees an average of 257 trucks from different industries. The trucks weigh an average of 31 tons.
The project will reportedly allow Connector Manufacturing to add an additional eight to 10 trucks daily on the road and is expected to create 26 jobs.
Connector Manufacturing will use the funds to accommodate new equipment and "maximize efficiency" as it refits its facilities.
The City of Greenville is contributing $2.5 million.
“While this project will benefit Connector Manufacturing and other industries along the road, it will also serve as an invitation for future businesses to locate in Greenville and create additional jobs in the city,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA is pleased to join Gov. Ivey and local leaders in support of this project.”
