Baltimore Orioles player and Black Belt native is among two other finalists for the the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA): the Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Awards.Â
In addition to the Rookie of the Year Award the association will also host awards for Manager of the Year, Cy Young and the Most Valuable Player of the Year.Â
MLB Network will announce the winners of each category on the following dates:Â
Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year: Monday, Nov. 13
Manager of the Year: Tuesday, Nov. 14
Cy Young: Wednesday, Nov. 15
Most Valuable Player: Thursday, Nov. 16
Henderson is a third baseman and shortstop for the Orioles. He was noted for being the MLB's "No. 1" prospect due to his 28 homeruns and 66 extra-base hits, according to mlb.com.Â
He was also noted for his 52% hard-hit rate, putting him in the top 15 qualified players, as well as adding six extra runs on the basepaths for the MLB.
