“The recent Supreme Court decision striking down Article 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is disheartening, especially since we are only 61 years removed from the landmark legislation that lifted our country toward a genuine democracy," said Culliver.
"Yet, even as our state government convenes in a special session to redraw district lines in light of the decision, we have not lost heart, nor have we surrendered to hopelessness. We view this moment as an opportunity to live out our faith by praying for our nation, speaking truth to power, leading with the light of love, standing up for the marginalized, and pursuing justice in the face of injustice.”
Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church is located at 1431 Broad Street.
