The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has launched a new recovery program for homeowners who were affected by hurricanes Zeta and Sally in 2020.

Those who had homes and property damaged by the hurricanes can now apply for the Home Recovery Alabama Program. It is funded by Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery funds made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Low-to-moderate-income homeowners and landlords with rental homes may be eligible to apply. They must have owned their properties before the storms hit and must still own them today.

The affected areas were Baldwin, Mobile, Clarke, Dallas, Escambia, Marengo, Perry, Washington and Wilcox counties.

“Hurricanes Sally and Zeta impacted many homeowners and landlords who still have not been able to repair their properties,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said in an online announcement. “This program will help them make the necessary repairs and resume a normal life.”

More information can be found at HomeRecoveryAL.com. The Alabama Home Recovery app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Applicants may also call 251-265-7958.

Intake centers are also available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. A Selma intake center is located at 124 Broad Street.
