Hurricane Zeta causes damage in Selma, Dallas County

Hurricane Zeta came powering through Dallas County on Wednesday night leaving a path of damage countywide and statewide.

More than 20,000 customers in Dallas County are without power, and crews are estimating when power will be restored, according to an Alabama Power spokesman.

Dozens of large trees are blocking major roads in Selma, including on Dallas Avenue and Broad Street in front of Trustmark.

Mayor Darrio Melton said the damage is widespread and encouraged residents to be patient as restoration is being done.

He also warned against removing trees near power lines.

So far, there are no reports of injuries in Dallas County.
