On Wednesday Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) President and CEO Ernie Kim announced a $290 million investment in upgrades to the Montgomery plant for a new Santa Fe SUV and to support the production of several current models. 

According to madeinalabama.com $190 million will go to getting the plant ready to build the the fifth-generation Santa Fe SUV. $100 million will go to the continued production of the Tucson SUV and Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle. 

Kim was joined by other officials in the announcement, including Gov. Kay Ivey, Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield and Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed among others. 

“From building world-class products to creating jobs and opportunity here in Montgomery, HMMA is a catalyst for the continued growth and development of our region,” Reed said. “This latest expansion is a milestone in our partnership, and we are grateful for their continued success in Montgomery.”
