The inaugural Dr. Bernard Lafayette Nonviolence Golf Tournament is slated for Thursday, May 11 starting at 8:30 a.m.Â
"This golf tournament will benefit our students and adults in Selma and Dallas County with nonviolence strategy being taught by Dr. Bernard Lafayette Jr., a disciple of Martin Luther King, Jr.," said a flyer for the event.Â
"Your participation as a sponsor and/or team is needed to ensure that our citizens learn better ways of peaceful interactions among each other. Methods of nonviolence teaching is a successful strategy for advancing and visualizing a safer community. It is crucial that our citizens learn strategic nonviolent actions without resorting to violence."Â
