Lee Jordan was appointed to the Demopolis School Board by the Demopolis City Council Oct. 16.
Jordan, a senior manager of project technology support at medical company Icon Clinical, replaces Harris Hurst, who resigned before his term expired. Homebuilder Chip Hughes received two votes. Jordan then received unanimous approval from the council.
Councilman Charles Jones Jr. said that he was “disappointed” in the nomination process because “it was out there too long. It was tried in the court of public opinion.”
The city council appointed Demopolis businessman Joe Parr to the Marengo County Economic Development Board at the request of the board. The next city council, which will be seated on Nov. 3, will consider an appointment to the Winfield Regional Hospital board.
This was the last meeting for Councilmen Bill Meador and Jim Stanford, who did not run for reelection, and David McCants, who was defeated in a runoff.
